Kim Patricia Walls - College Essay Writing Coach and College Admissions Consultant

My experience is a mosaic with strengths in both academic and creative fields. Its diversity works well to support students through the labyrinth of the college application process.

I have a B.A. in English and Journalism from University of Delaware and a M.A. in Language and Literacy from Tufts University. In addition, I have completed a Certificate in Secondary Literacy at Augustana University and have studied creative nonfiction and fiction writing at Grub Street in Boston, MA, and Literary Arts in Portland, Oregon. I am also a proud graduate of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) Summer Training Program and an Associate Member of the IECA.

I worked in film and television as a producer/director in NYC, moved to Boston to teach film production at Boston University, and transitioned to working as a Massachusetts licensed English teacher and Literacy Specialist after my two daughters were born.

In 2019, I started my work as an College Essay Writing Coach. I love helping students find arresting topics to use when writing their personal statements; stories that can encapsulate their values, skills, and identities. I bring an infinite patience and an indefatigable sense of humor to the process to keep their confidence buoyed as they complete this daunting task.

Working as an English teacher and a literacy specialist has also given me a thorough understanding of language-based learning disorders as well as attention and executive function challenges that can make the organization and writing piece of this process even more difficult.

When I am not helping students write inspiring essays and search for colleges that are a perfect fit, you can find me exploring new destinations, sailing, hiking with my pup, Caleb, cooking for my family, taking photos, or reading, preferably under a beach umbrella by the sea.
